..wait..ho-how the hell do you even raid 0 a ssd and hdd?

also, anyone wanna ask 'em why they're blocking the rear fan on the envy 14 with the screen? (sure the air goes up instead and there's always the right fan, but still)

its possible if you have the same amount of storage on each. not recommended tough, since the raid is the 0.

Raid 0 is a malaise to the world, raid 5 is what should be used, if you want performance buy an ssd and get a caddy or buy one that holds more drives (as per envy 17)

seeing this was done by hp, I recommend to get someone fired quickly

slotti and spencerp, thanks, I try. :D

Mr. MM, check this link out I posted in the Envy 17/3D SB thread. I learned something about RAIDing, and yes, it is possible to RAID 0 drives of different sizes, which HP apprantely did for whatever reason....

Standard RAID levels - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On a side note, kinda wish this expert day was happening sooner as some members in the Envy 17 3D SB thread are reporting issues of freezing/possible wifi connection problems. Hope we find the answers soon and sort this mess out.

Also I wonder who was the genius to put only 1 fan on the Envy 17's previous generation.

I wouldn't say that. I love RAID0 and the performance benefits it brings. Granted, like everything else though, it has its place and time depending on the person's needs.

RAID5 is useless in a laptop; hell, I think it sucks for home use and has a write penalty. Now RAID10 is what I'd prefer... but no home use scenarios should require that type of redundancy and performance.

I still vouch for raid 5, and asynchronous raid 0 is a terrible idea no way you put

I would definitely ask them how they get feedback on their products, and whether they read NBR forums.

Do they know about issues like the trackpad workaround for smooth scrolling?
Do they know that we'd like have the option to be able to control the fans a bit more? Advanced BIOS doesn't seem to do anything.
Do they know that the switchable graphics drivers seem to add about 14 seconds to the boot time(!)?
