So the HP website lists various HP models that are compatible with the expresscard remote control...My question is if the remote control is compatible with other brands? I have an Asus (VBI) S96j and am looking for a remote control.

I highly doubt it, since they probably have different IR frequencies.

I would think the driver for the IR interface is going to be proprietary, thus making compatible devices unique for a series. That remote for the HP is probably only going to work with the current Pavillions, and not even older HP's.

Ah, okay. Thanks

I've just discovered that the infrared remote for my Samsung X60 plus works OK with my Zepto 6024W without me having to set up anything.
Device Manager shows on the Zepto:
- HID-compliant consumer control device
- Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver
- Winbond CIR transceiver
The X60plus just has the HID-compliant consumer control device.
Can someone with an HP with IR remote check what devices you have in the Human Interface Device section? I'd like to gat a remote for my Zepto and the HP remotes seem to be the only ones available on ebay.
Thanks,

Does anyone know if the zv6000 needs special drivers to use the optional HP remote control? I bought the remote online for my zv6000 but i can't seem to get it to work and I know I have the infrared sensor on my laptop. I don't see any infrared devices in my device manager and can't seem to find any drivers for an infrared on HP driver page.
