I just tried to purchase a Presario V2000 on the phone. I wanted to include a 3 year accidental damage plan with the machine. When the salesman found out that I lived in New York, he said that he cannot sell me an extended service plan. Apparantly, there is a new law in New York prohibiting extended service plans.
I didn't believe the guy because I had just purchased a machine from them a couple of months back and got the ESP without a problem. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he confirmed this new law.
Has anyone heard of this? If you have any more information that you can pass along that would be appreciated.

I have never heard of this before.

I was just looking on the Dell site. When customizing a warranty plan, I found this note...
CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service is not available to customers with a state of New York bill to and/or ship to address. -

New York is a real b*tch for certain things. I can't purchase travel insurance on my American Express card, Health insurance is like 3 times the price of any other state, apartment prices are like 10 times the price and yes...these service plans can't be offered in new york. And for some reason I still wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now. so i'll carry on being bitter about such things [

Does anyone know why in the world extended service plans aren't available in NY?
