what kind of cable do you have? 9 out of 10 problems with external monitor/TV come from the cable

Did you update your video card drivers?

When I first hooked up my external monitor via HDMI, Fn+F4 would swap displays. Then I updated the video card with drivers from laptopvideo2go and that no longer worked. In order to switch displays, I have to go down to the icon in the taskbar and choose display type. Under single display, both my laptop LCD and my plasma are options.

I really wish the Fn+F4 would still work. It's a pain to have to mouse down make the change, especially since the laptop is closed when I'm running the external monitor.
