Hi guys, My first post here.

Back in December I bought a dv9500z. Here are the Specs:

    AMD Turion 64 x2 2.1ghz
    2.00gb RAM
    NVIDIA 128mb graphics card
    WSXGA+ 1680x1050 screen
    Webcam/fingerprint reader/microphone
    Lightscribe dvd drive
    160gb 5400rpm hdd

I love it except for one small thing. The 160gb hard drive ends up being about 140 after the D partition and formatting. I understand that this laptop has the space for a second hard drive, correct? If so, What interface does it use? ATA-150? ATA-6? SATA?

Also, where is the space for it on the bottom of the computer? Will it void the warranty if I open it to add the drive?

    Thanks!

Look on the bottom and you will see the panel for it. It is a SATA drive, but requires a special adapter and bracket from HP that costs $40. It's a total rip off that HP charges that much for something so stupid, but there's no way around using it.

I am selling a hard drive caddy on eBay right now. From HP it will cost you more than my Buy It Now price. This caddy is brand new, I bought it for a laptop that I returned but could not return this part.
Let me know if you have any questions.

lol thanks, but you still haven't answered the last question. Will that drive I posted work? The Serial ATA150? will a SATA 3gb/s drive work?

SATA 3.0gb/s drives will fall back to SATA150 if needed.
