So I read a thread about how a few guys on this forum had their laptops completely messed up from HP's repair service.
I've recently just sent in my laptop for repair and after reading that thread, It made me feel as if I just sent my horse to the glue factory.
They talked about how their laptops were returned with extra hardware problems, having their laptops physically damaged, and even dust and hairs under the screen.
Is it very likely that my laptop will be returned with even more issues?
-
not likely. hp handle hundreds if laptops each day and there is very little chance yours will be the one that will have something wrong happen to it.dont worry

Do you own a HP laptop? Have you used their repair service?

Wolf Mike, at this point, all you can basically do is wait. Is your notebook in good shape? Make sure that you keep track of any damages HP service does when you get it back. Once you get your notebook back from repair, make sure you test all the buttons and see if they are all working. The optical drive, watch a movie, burn something, and use the memory card readers to make sure everything is in order. Also, drain out your battery and recharge to see if those work as well.
Try running it overnight as well to make sure the heat on the notebook is okay. Let us know once you get your notebook back. -
oh my gosh, the first post on this thread is so right. my very first laptop the dv5327CL i sent in because of hardware issue. i got it back in the worst condition in the world, scratched up very badly. i called a case manager and the case went on for 6 months until they finally got me a new notebook dv6000t. its was a very long story but eventually it was nice of HP to send me a new notebook due to bad service.

Its funny. Their repair service seems more like a destroy service.
Oh yes I feel very safe knowing that "well-qualified HP technicians" are working on my laptop.
Only thing wrong with my laptop was that the power jack came loose and I had to wiggle the charger to get it to charge. -
It really is unfortunate...
HP builds great looking machines, with great prices, and routinely gives out coupons (which Dell used to do), some of which are awesome (can we say $500 off?).
Their phone support is very nice, you do actually talk to people who speak English as a first language, and they do a great job accomodating the user.
But the dagger to the heart is their damn tech support bench work. With everything that is great about HP it just seems like it isnt HP who handles the repairs.
All you can do is pray that your laptop is in one of the better pairs of hands at the tech support work bench. -
I spoke to one of these techs recently and they admitted that their only form of training is when a new laptop is sent for repair, i.e. they don't actually know how to repair it until someone sends in a new model. What's worse is that they don't refer to their own documentation that HP provides, including training videos on how to take it apart, so they just went about prodding and prying at each hole trying to disassemble it.
I'm so disappointed when I, as a customer, have to direct them to their own internal documentation on how to properly take it apart.
Surprised? Well, don't be. That's why I got myself onsite warranty so I can watch everything they do, making sure they do not damage anything physically. It's saddening when the customer knows better how to repair the equipment than their own people.
Extremly worried about laptop due to HP's repair service
