I have HP DV 6000 series ,bought on on december with winodws XP , 1.5 month ago when the F.25 was released and while i was upgrading to it i had a blue screen and the laptop went dead ,it doesnt wanna start at all, just the blue power light ,anywayz i sent to HP for repair and they replaced the Motherboard as a whole ,it is ok,but its Bios is F.02,and now i need to upgrade to either F.16 or F.25,which one should i upgrade to knowing that my Lappy went dead when upgrading to F.25 with the blue screen appearing just before dying.NB,I have 2 GB of Ram(Upgraded my self after buying the laptop)i was F.06 when my lappy came dead),So can i upgrade at least to F.16 or it has issues with the 2 GB module.or should i remain with to F.02 .

    Dv 6000
    1.83 centrino duo 2MB cache
    2GB Ram
    7400 Nvidia
    100 GB
    THANKS

I suppose you can update to the latest bios. Maybe your previous motherboard was bad, but updating bios shouldn't kill it again.

Make sure you have enough battery power before updating the bios, just in case you loose power.

Well it depends on what configuration you have the RAM in. If that 2GB of RAM is all in one stick then I believe you may get blue screens with the F16 bios(or anything before the F16), the F25 fixes this (Meaning you can have up to 4GB :) ) However, if you have 2 sticks of 1 GB like I do then I would go with the F16 because the F25 has had some mixed reviews, refer to the current F25 discussion going on now.

hmm go into users and computers and search for anything that might have excluded administrator from it. maybe also activate the actual administrator account and log in using that and try it. i think it is disabled by default.

u bought this in the middle east eh? u got XP home dont you? same like me but i got the dv9000

i dont see a users and computers console so it doesnt seem like you could do that.

go to safe mode (press F8 after the HP logo when starting up) and login as administrator (shouldnt be a password for it) and run the update from there
