Looks like HP has resolved the heat issue with F.25 and now released F.26

Just updated my lappy and its running much like F.16.

Hmmm. No description of what it includes. Think I will stay with F.16 until a few more posts occur. Thanks for the notice, though!

Maybe I didn't test the F.26 for long enough; my quick test-drive found the temps to be as high as with F.25.

    dv9088ea,
With F.16 at idle: CPU @ ~28* (both cores v. similar)
    GPU @ ~61*

    F.26 at idle CPU @ ~50*
    GPU @ ~71*

    Temperatures were measured using Everest.

Have you noticed with F.26 that the fan cycles on and off every five seconds or so? With F.25 it would be off for longer periods. Using F.16, it is nearly always on, but at a slower speed when CPU not under load.

I tried f26 and immediately went back to f16

the quickplay button problem is still there from f25, the buttons still make the beep noise even when you disable this sound in the BIOS

the temps are still too hot, especially the primary hdd and GPU

seems like f16's fan controls should stay the best

what did you "upgrade" from? Was it F16 or F25? So far it seems that the F25 is the hottest followed by F26, and F16 being the coolest. So I would recommend going back to F16 and see if the problem persists.

I don't see if for the 9000 or 6000. What model did you see it for?

The difference, evidently, is the Vista 64-bit. Most of us are running Vista 32-bit and the highest bios showing is f.26.

BTW, was the f.25 update to try to cut the fans back a bit. I updated to the f.25 but then backed down to the f.16 because of heat issues. With f.26, is HP trying to find a happy medium (though it appears to be not so happy)? I guess I'll stay with f.16 and enjoy the fans. At least the system stays cooler. In summertime South Carolina, the last thing I want is extra heat. ;)

errr byrds6, that BIOS upgrade link you gave is for the AMD versions which are dv9000z/6000z not dv9000t/6000t

so ppl make sure you are upgrading to the right BIOS for your system, DONT get this if you have an intel system cuz as it says in the link it is for AMD only!

I see that the HP site has drivers and support for "CTO" notebooks (Customized To Order?) for every dv_500t notebook except for the dv6500t. but for the 6500, they have a bunch of specific model numbers, i.e. dv6513tx (upgraded in a certain way?).

Where would I find the firmware for the dv6500t?

    Thanks.

its the same BIOS as any other of the dv6500 series. as long as it is an intel of the same series it will be the same. check the other model numbers and see the file name for the BIOS, they should all be the same.
