Recently I was going to re-install xp on my hp dv2415 laptop, but every time it crashed after the first restart (where system loads all files to hard disk and start installation in graphic interface).. I used both my and my friend's installation disk and the result is same

The only change to hardware I made is I update the system bios from f37 to f39 as hp request.. Since this system came with vista home premium, I am wondering if the new bios has blocked xp in some way? Anyone has the similar experience? Thanks.

I presume you have the dv2415nr(AMD) and not the dv2415us(Intel). If it is the former, then the BIOS should work fine with XP. Up until a couple of days ago I used to run Win XP with F.39 BIOS on my system.

As for your issues, try running the HDD check in the bios to see if there are any problems with the hard disk. it might also be a case of failing DVD drive sa well.

u see. the problem is in installation error.. I did run xp well after updating bios, but when trying to reinstall xp, it always fails.. maybe it could be hard disk error, I will check.
