First post here. I have come to this site from time to time. Anyway, bought a "spare" notebook on a budget for $479. I thought I'd give a mini review because there is not much info on it. For $479 I feel it's a bargain. Anyway here is what i found:

Has the TK-53 AMD "Athlon" X2 chip. It's 1.7 GHZ. I believe it's an overclocked TL-50...but it packs some power. 80 gig HD 5400 RPM Hitachi, nVidia 6150 Go GPU, 1280 x 800 HD screen 15.4" WS, DVD dbl layer,802.11 B/G wifi, USB, etc.

    Pros:
-Nice crisp screen and good detail.
    -fast processor and system.
    -Gig of ram PC5300
    -"fast HD"
    -PRICE
    -WIFI...decent range. About avg.
    -DBL layer DVD.
    -Vista Premium

    Cons:
-Crappy battery life 1.5-2 hrs hours at most...6 cell battery.
    -"small" HD
    -Roxio Dvd S/W
    -Vista premium...lousy "restore disk" only.

Overall, for $479 and Dual core, it's a bargain. Decent set up for the causal gamer and everyday user.

Not bad. Someone else here said he managed to get his for $330 after rebates and price-matching.

As far as the TK-53, it's actually a new 65nm Tyler core. The TL-50 is a 90nm Taylor. The TK-53 is marketed as an "Athlon", but it's really a mobile Turion. Same low 2x256K cache, 800MHz HT, S1 socket, 1.1v voltage, and 31w TDP as the TL-50, it's just got a +.5x higher multiplier, and newer X2 core(s).

Nice spec for the price. You posted "small HDD" as one of the Cons. I think, you can't ask more than that for the price.

looks like I am way outta date with this question, but..

What about upgradablity? Will the Turion 64 X2 2.0 ghz work in this sytem?

Yes, it should. Both the TK-53 & he TL-60 are Socket S1 processors. As long as the BIOS supports the Turions there shouldnt be any issues.

    Hi everyone,

Will F572US be ok for me (I live in Russia) as it is localized for USA?
Just want to make sure it will be ok for me before pruchasing it.
The stickers with Russian letters and adapter plug are not problems.

    Thanks in advance!

    Arthur

You should be fine with ordering the US version. There wont be anything special about the localization except they include junk software targetted for that market and the language used for the OS. The only problem would be warranty, even though HP have worldwide coverage its never easy to get systems serviced outside the country they were meant to be sold in.

Miner, thank you very much for your encouraging reply. The language is not a problem for me. Anyway even if i decide to sell it in the future, I can reinstall the OS..
Hope I won't need warranty.. I will be glad to inform you of everything once I have some experience using it.

    Thanks again for the info.
