I currently have a G6-2123us it is ok for what it is. One thing after the last couple of years of having it is I cant stand the resolution on this screen.

For a 199 laptop got via staples 2 years ago it not bad. But I want to dump a little money into her now. Ram is maxed out I have a hyrbrid drive in but if I get the performance I want when I do the A10 richland upgrade I would move to an Samsung Evo . Though before I spend any of this money on a low end laptop I want to make sure I can buy one of these 1080p FHD screens. the 40 pin cable i have not seen one way or another on the g6-2000 series if I need to replace that as I know some 40 pin cables are missing a few pins if there only going to be 1366x768 but that not the case all the time.

Has anyone done such an upgrade ?

Put this way without a P/N no one will know how to help you located a upgrade LCD if there is one for that HP laptop.

The PN on the laptop is b5a04ua#aba . Though I generally buy 15.6 lcd panels 25 at a time and they have gone into dells , a few hps , levonos only times I had a real problem was on a few speciality displays or on the ocasional dell where they went cheap and removed a few pins from 40 pin cable.

I understand you have a G-6, 2000 series.... but check this link here on NBR and you'll see someone who recently did the FHD mod you are considering on a G7, 2000 series with good results. May help ...

    Best, Dave

Thanks, Dave looking through the hp parts finder the G6 and G7 -2000 series use the same lvds cable . Which is good as I found some G6s with FHD displays and a lot more G7 with FHD displays.

Glad the link helped! KLF is very good at this kind of stuff. Be sure to check back when you get’er dun. Seems these FHD Mods are getting to be a trend around here and others will likely follow.

    Best, Dave

Check so that you have 40pin in the motherboard connector before you buy parts. :)
