I tried posting in the Compaq section, but had no luck...so I will try here

Hi, I have a Presario CQ42 and the function keys seem to be backwards.

Without touching the function key, I can activate all of the function commands (volume, play, stop, ffwd. rrwd, etc) This means to hit F5, I need to actually hit FN+F5. This is very annoying for me who uses office shortcuts for thesaurous, spelling, etc.

Is there a way to disable or reverse the apparent programming stupidity so that the function key works normally, and the F buttons work correctly?? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Try looking in the bios to see if there is an option to turn off the Fn Keys as shortcuts defaulted
