My media center is still not working and the wireless light does not stay on (but wireless does stay on)

I want to do a factory reinstall if possible. How do I do it?

Well I got the light working. Now if only I can get MCE to work...

You could try doing a Windows repair instead of reinstalling everything. But this only works if your laptop came with the Windows CD.(HP has recently started including ony a restore partition instead of a full windows CD).

Also check the manual for the laptop, it should give you the exact steps for you to do full recovery as the dv5000z also includes the quickplay feature which might make the process a little bit more complicated.

Well the hp guy said I can reinstall without formating which I will do. This will not mess up quick play...

Well it wouldn't work with the cd for reinstalling option...

However, I did look at the manual and it told me how to format and still save quick play.

I hope I did it right...soo scared. Thanks!

You can reinstall quick play with the CD they included also, so don't worry much about that, just make sure you make the partition for it with the windows setup cd and after that, you can completley redo everything from there. I re-installed everything from scratch on my DV4000 with the included disk, and got rid of all the extras HP had on here.
