Yep, I got my HP DV5t about 4-5 mos. ago. The graphics card which is a 9600m GT is definitely starting to fail.
When ever I start to play graphically intensive games like COD4 or CS 1.6the screen begins to freeze and the computer says the display driver failed while other times it causes a BSOD. This used to happen occasionally about 1-2 mos. ago but now it happens very often. I updated my drivers as soon as I got the laptop and always lifted the back for better airflow while gaming but apparently it didnt help.
I will be sending it back to HP for repair or replacement. Just wanted you guys to know. Btw when I send it in, is it possible to ask for upgrades or anytihng???

Nope, they will just replace the card. Upgrades are very very very very very (you get the idea) rare.

Did you check to make sure the GPU wasn't overheating before you sent it in?

I check temps for an extended period of time. Idling temps average around 60-70 C while gaming temps are around 90-95. These arent outrageous temps for a dv5t, but the screen keeps freezing/flashing/BSODing so i know it has something to do with a failing GPU. Also, its gradually getting worse and worse as in, its getting more common now and sometimes the screen freezes or the "display driver fails" even when im just browsing the internet. -
Its probably just a defective GPU. It happens with everything. from tiem to time there will be a bad one. The temps sounds fine.

I just got my dv5t this last week and so far mine idles around 30C and i have only seen it max at around 69C. (this is with a cooler of course).
I wonder if maybe there is an assembly issue causing your higher temps. I would send it back and request a new systemboard (since the GPU is soldered onto it). No telling what those temps have done to damage your GPU. -

Dang. I called HP and told them about my faulty dvd drive, they sent me a blue ray drive the next day. -
I'm glad i sent my DV5T back the day after i got one.
