I have a DV6113us, and I'm thinking about getting a notebook cooler. I'm using Vista right now and to my surprise, the fan is not coming on as much. It still does come on but only a 10 secs or so every half an hour. My touchpad does get really hot though and the bottom of the notebook is somewhat warm. So I just need to know it the fans in DV6000 series blow out or suck in from the bottom? I know the it blows out through the back for sure but I'm not sure what's going on at the bottom.

If its like the DV9000 and the ZD8000 series the fans pull air into the system to blow out the back. Their basic design behind them is to have them pull it up into it and across the CPU thats in the back corner of the system under the ESC key. Least thats the way it is on those two modles so I cant see why they would change it for the 6000

that seems right. I'm thinking about investing on ZALMAN Ultra Quiet Notebook Cooler Model ZM-NC1000. Is this a good choice? I don't want to get a lapcool2 and have it break down all of the sudden

Personally I dont like the plastic coolers. I spent 17bucks on the cooler I have. If memory serves it was made by Byytec and its pretty plain. Its a sheet of angled aluminum with 2 fans about center. They blow up through the vents somewhat but its hard to find the perfect cooler in reguards to the vents or system fans. The aluminum in itself draws heat away from the system while the fans help cool it. The plastic coolers dont really draw the heat away. Aluminum is great for that. As for the one youre looking at I havent heard of it and really stopped looking at the coolers after I got mine. So I cant help there too much.

it's around $50 and i read some good reviews of it. The top is all aluminum so it should help more than the plastic on the lapcool. Here's the link to the cooler at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16834998051

I looked at your cooler and also looked up some reviews on it. The ones I found all say people really like it. I dont see how it cools as much as the review I read says though since the fans have no direct blow or suck on the system itself. It seems to use the case of the cooler to either blow or suck air through the holes torward the front. It is made of aluminum which that alone will pull heat away from the system. So maybe its a good one. I personally will deal with the noise of fans to have more air flow. The fans on my cooler move more air if memory serves. But Im a cheap guy too being I have 5 kids lol. My 17 dollar one isnt half bad. Should fit your laptop well since its made for its size.

i was thinking about getting the $17. How long have you had yours? Is it that loud? Is the one the the extra usb ports worth it?
