I just recently installed windows XP on my dv6894ca notebook. Everything runs great driver wise, I just notice the fan never shuts off, and my battery life is worse than it was with Vista. I have the power plan set to Portable/Laptop. But the temps are around 50-55c on both cores at all times. GPU is at 58c at all times, unless I run a game. On Vista with more things open my computer was quieter, and cooler. Yet with XP its running like a pig... I thought it would be the other way around. Any suggestions on how to fix this? It's really annoying.

    Thanks

XP is way faster than Vista, just louder and not as cool. It must be a driver or something I have to tweak to stop this. My fan is running almost at max all times. Except when I run the cpu at 100%. It runs at full speed then.

    Could be drivers IMHO.

What kind of drivers would cause this? I'm using the latest chipset version from HP.ca and the latest nvidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com
