    Hi!
For about 2 weeks I have problem with overheating. I was playing Dota 2 and suddenly my laptop fan was quiet, and cpu temperature was 80 and rising fast. Ofc, I turned off my laptop.
Since then, fan works now and then, but for a few minutes and then it just stops working. Using power saving mode and intel graphics gets me to the 75C.

I've tried clean Windows installation (because sometimes fan works I thought that is some kind of software related problem)
    I've tried newest BIOS (again)
Also compressed air, also opening the laptop showed that there was minimal dust, so I don't think that the fan is clogged.

Is there some way to control fan speed other than CoolSense? What are your recommendations?

Edit: Can you replace fan without having to apply the paste?

usually the fan is held down by screws. so you would not need paste.

Do you know if your fan is even spinning? How about going to Windows Power options and turning off passive cooling. Select high performance mode, and see if the fan spins up

If your fan is dying, that could be either a MOBO-related problem or the fan itself. (As the fan is controlled by the MOBO)..
I would suggest you just to turn it into HP and let them solve the problem, remember that any work you might do could void your warranty..

Getting a spare-fan to install is anyway going to be one hell of a job, and if its the mobo, then you're prolly screwed as HP wouldn't even "sell it to you", you would have to hand the PC in to let them change it. (And of course charge extra for it, if you're not under warranty.)

    So, my best advice:
Still under warranty? Just send them that and let them fix it :)
