Most of the time my dv2000t is very quiet. There is some fan in the system, though, which is sounds really odd when it runs at full speed. I'm thinking that it's the CPU fan. At its maximum speed, it sounds more like a rattle than a fan, or maybe like the sound a kid gets when they attach a baseball card to their bike so that it slaps against their bicycle spokes to get a "revving up" sound.

Does anyone else's dv2000t make a similar sound when the fans get going at full speed? I'm trying to figure out whether that's the normal sound that fan makes.

My dv2000t is amazingly quiet. I really don't ever hear the fan.

I'll hear the cd drive spin, but that's also rather quiet.

    Don't hear any rattling....

It looks like I have solved this problem. I tried loosening the screws in the corner of the case near the CPU fan and the rattling noise went away. The fan must have been crushed so hard that it was being warped a little bit. Just a quarter turn on all three screws did the trick.
