I noticed that my fan never stopped even when I was word processing or web surfing. Compared to my ibm Z61m, I hardly feel the fan when doing light load jobs. How about your dv6000t?

My fan almost never goes on unless it is under heavy stress. Even though the fan doesn't go on very often my laptop does not get hot either.

I have a 7200 rpm HD that gets considerably hotter than the stock 5400, so my fan is cycling constantly. turns off for a few minutes, then comes back for about a minute.

word processing using which program? whatever program you might be using could be taxing the system a bit more, so it gets hotter, hence the fans kicking in

Heck, mine is still rotating even when the mornitor is turn off (power management for idle state).
Should I have HP check up my laptop?
