Is the fan meant to blow air of the back vent on the bottom of the DV5t?
Air blows out of the side vent but very little air blows out the back vent even when gaming. Im worried the vent is blocked.
Im concerned because the CPU reaches 85c when playing games, which seems a bit high for a CPU in my opinion.
thanks in advance![]()

It is ok. Use a notebook cooler for this. also raise the back of notebook by 2 inches. this will drop temps by 10 degrees

Im pretty sure it should be blowing out the back..but if you say its blowing out the side, at least its blowing out somewhere. 85 degrees sounds kinda hot..which GPU and which CPU do you have?
-
thanks but i dont really want to carry a notebook cooler around with me just to play games
ive also noticed that when i stop playing games, core 0 and core 1 hav temps of around 62c even after 30mins . is this normal or does it indicate the vent is blocked?
ive had the laptop since september but ive only just noticed that air doesnt blow out of the back vent. ive never really monitered temps much before either.
please help -

62 degrees for the P7350 is kinda hot at idle, but the thing with laptop fans are that once the laptop gets hot, the fans cant really cool it down significantly in some cases (ive toyed with this).
What is the CPU temp if you DONT play a game, just have it on idle, I bet its less.
Are you using it on a flat hard surface? Also you can try raising the back a bit as Salman said.
If the laptop is old (you didn't specify how long you have used it) you can try using some compressed air to clean out the fan vents, dust builds up in there VERY quickly and hinders cooling performance.
[EDIT]
If you dont want to carry a cooler around, you can try setting your power mode to "power saver", this reduces the capability of the laptop but also keeps temperatures lower. If you haven't already, you can try this mode out with some games you play, not every game needs the full power of the laptop. If you see certain games work fine then play at least those with "power saver" on. (Not sure if this mode does anything while connected to AC power..) -
whats best for tryin to raise the back of the laptop? do you use a book or something?
ive had the laptop for about six month. ill guess ill try to clean it with compressed air
thanks -
Ya you can use a book on either back corner, or if you have some sort of long flat bar like...hmm.........lol I dunno...
Basically anything thats not too high and wont move around too much..
I edited my previous post (the one you replied to), you can try the power saver thing too. -
thanks nfsync. i use power save when on battery but it really hinders performance lol
ill try n find something long and flat to use with the laptop
thanks -
No problem
.
You can construct a Lego tower to hold your laptop lol...

ok nfsync ive solved the vent problem, i think the vent must have been blocked, but now air (not loads but more than before) blows out of the vent
thanks again -
Good to know
.
