    Fan problem with HDX 16

    hi i have a HDX 16 and have a problem with the fan ! the fan is always running at full speed and thats very loud ! when i plug out the power cable the fan immediatly go sloww and silent ! any idea what i can do that it will be silent also in plug in power ? thats really sad !

    i would call hp. i have an old dv5000 that has the same problem but it started after 3 years of ownership

    check the temps of the CPU using HWmonitor. Then post them here.

    no high Cpu Temperatur nothing happen on the notebook ! i use performance monitor nothing special happen there the CPU most under 10 % , the Fan start every few seconds ! stop start stop start , at high speed ! thats really terrible ! o i think it must be a problem in the BIOS or have anyone a Idea how can we regulate the FAN ? or the CPU ???

    What temp is the CPU running at? If you're using vista, are you in high performance mode? or balanced? or power saver?

    Try using Balanced mode. Also update your bios from hp's website.

    i uses different modes all the same result ! no new bios for my HDX 16 is available , i have found with process explorer that audiodg.exe use every few seconds a cpu time ! i uninstall the IDT audio so right now the FAN start every few seconds but stop after a few seconds
    do you know where i can found bios for HDX 16 ?
    AAHHHH i hate it the FAN start every 10 sec for 2 sec

    the reason for the High FAN is the IDT Driver ! when i uninstall it and say in bios fan always running its ok !

    There is an option in the BIOS to turn off the CPU fan. Unfortunately I think it's either an on or off all the time proposition.

    Yarserver - No it's not. The option in the bios is to either have it running at all times, or turn it off when not needed.

    when you say fan off in Bios the Fan start every few seconds and stop and start and stop and start ! better is to say fan on !

    there should be a balanced mode in the bios, high, medium low sort of thing
