I received my new fan from HP yesterday and now I have removed all of the screws around the periphery of my laptop. I have also removed the Hard Drive, Battery, RAM and Modem covers. There is still resistance to lifting the cover off from the middle of the case. It looks like there may be two screws behind the RAM window but underneath the case. Any ideas? Am I amking much ado about nothing here and just need to pull a bit harder. Obviously I would just rather not break anything that has a simple screw keeping me from an easy solution. Any ideas out there from all of you that I am sure have taken your units apart before?

Any thoughts of taking this laptop base off? Have any of you swapped parts on a Compaq?

Click the FRU Remove/Replace for guided instructions. I'm typing on a 2500 right now and have had it apart 3 times over the last 4 years (for power connector).
Hope this helps.

The recommended guides were amazing. The fan replacement was easy. A one hour job once I got down to it. Zany, thank you for your direction.

Glad to have helped.
Congrats on the repair. It's nice to be able to fix things yourself if you can.
