    Hi,

I notice the HP puts in DDR2 533Mhz memory on these laptops. Can we upgrade to DDR2 667 Mhz directly? If so, then it would be good to just buy minimum memory and then upgrade ourselves right?

Also, lenovo 3000 N100 with centrino duo T2300E is running cheaper than DV2000t with centrino T2250. Which is a better buy?

    Thanks,
    -Raj

Yes, you can use 667MHz memory, but if you buy the laptop with the T2250, then the memory will run at 533MHz(no matter what speed memory you use) since the T2250 has a FSB of 533MHz. The memory wont run faster than the bus speed. The other processors T2300, T5500 can make use of 667MHz memory. Also note that if you mix memories of 2 different speeds, then the faster memory will run at the same speed as the slower one.

Just thought ppl might be interested to know that my DV2000T came with 667MHz memory (Samsung PC2-5300). In particular, i think it may have more to do with which processor you get. My processor is the core 2 duo T5600 that runs at 667MHz FSB.

If T2250 has only 533Mhz FSB, am i better off with an AMD Turion?

The T2250 should still be fine. The Turion will give you 64bit support, other than that there is negligible difference in performance depending on the applications you use.
