    Hey..

Got my Pavilion Dv6500 series notebook about a month ago. Everything has been working just fine, except that the full capacity of my 6cell battery has dropped over 30% in this one month and I now get a maximum of 2hours out of the battery that used to give me 3 hours with the same settings. (running Vista power saving mode, all visual effects turned off (windows classic/win95 style theme), screen backlight turned all the way down etc. and only using wireless and one Firefox window)

So I emailed HP about this because I don't think that this kind of battery wear is normal. And HP repiled that they will warranty my battery if it dies completely but until then they won't do anything.

What do you guys think about this? This kind of battery wear can't be normal, can it?

    Thanks for any advice,
    Hendrik

It's not a normal wear yes. But technically speaking, your battery is not malfunctioning. It's just underperforming because of natural wear and tear. That's why HP won't replace it until it actually dies, when it can be considered a faulty battery.

Think about it, can you return worn tires, or worn brake pads? No because their deteriorating due to natural wear and tear.

Run the HP Battery Check program. If that says your battery is defective and needs replacement then you have a case and they should replace it immediately without any questions.
