I waited almost 2 months now for my laptop (dv6000t) to come back home. It had to be sent twice, and furthermore, HP ran out of parts, so I had to wait an additional 2-3 weeks. Just a week ago I got a confirmation email saying that my laptop was finally shipped out. It was sent out on March 13th via NEXT-DAY FedEx shipping. Because it wasn't here the next day, I got worried and gave FedEx a call... and guess what... FedEx told me my package appears to be lost... I seriously couldn't believe that this was really happening to me. It's like a some tragic story-life I am living. :( I haven't called HP yet, but I've called FedEx and told them politely, just try their best in finding and sending my laptop to me, and they told me the chances of finding my laptop are pretty high because it seems like the package never left the FedEx location. They said it'll take some time to be sorted out from the lost & found. I'm really hoping that they'll find it before spring break... What should I do now? I have a case manager's phone number, but he told me before that he only works Monday thru Friday. Should I just give a call to HP and speak to a different Case Manager?

Be patient and call your case manager on Monday. You've already waited so long, two more days won't be that bad.

what a bummer!! based on my experience with FedEx consider the system lost. We had an issue a few years ago where something got screwed up in the package processing and the label from our box got torn off and stuck on another box as a 2nd label. FedEx never even tried to find our correct box. It was over $3000 with of merchandise that likely ended up at some FedEx employee's home as gifts or for sale on eBay.

When FedEx loses something it usually stays lost. I suspect often the box is destroyed in handling and FedEx just would rather it appear lost then destroyed.

Forget dealing with FedEx and just contact HP...it is HP's problem not yours as HP is the shipper and actually paid FedEx. It won't take HP long to determine the package status. If there is no scan anywhere and nobody has the box, it's lost.

Like Sylenxor said, you have little choice but to be patient now. These things can and do happen. Not too often but it stinks when it happens to you...HP will make it right. And if it does happen to show up say today (saturday), FedEx will do that in the case of late/lost deliveries, call HP so they will know...

Sorry to read about the problem!!

Well, I've had UPS "lose" my laptop before. Last year they lost a Dell Latitude D420 that made it onto a truck for delivery but 10-days later still hadn't arrived. UPS was totally unhelpful with finding it, Dell had to resubmit the order rushed and it arrived 2-weeks after that. I've seen a lot of people experience UPS losing their laptop, but not FedEx. If it goes 2 more days I'd call HP and they'll have to reprocess the order. Yes, it truly sucks, and is baffling how this can happen.

I'm thinking a brand new replacement laptop courtesy of FedEX to replace the troubled one that was sent back twice for repairs. Hope it works out for you.

Yeah, shipping companies and airlines lose bags all the time. It's because someone forgets to scan the item in. Delta is notorious for losing bags because a doofus forgets to scan a bag in, and it just drifts in the baggage underworld for eternity. :p

I bet this happened during the time when UPS was testing out RFID technology for their carriers. It was a bit of a disaster for them.
