This is designed for Vista 64 bit only. At least that is the error I get while trying to run the installer.

Thanks for the headsup anyway Airman.

So? Hp really doesnt change the driver itself. They just change the inf for the most part. The only thing laptopvideo2go does it add the mobile GPUs to the inf file so it will install. The beta drivers straight off the Nvidia site right now will even install on the HP systems. Not to mention I have found a lot of times what HP may change in the drivers lowers performance as compared to the Nvidia releases. Also the HP drivers usually arent the latest version of drivers either.

No. I want to say that all the tweaks and monitos were taken out and have to use some other program now.

What other program do you use to tweak the settings? Cause my Nvidia Control Panel(3D settings especially) doesn't have ANY effects on my games! :(

Man, I am so confused about all these sources: Hp, Nvidia, and Microsoft. I checked Microsoft website and noticed an update for the geforce go, but it doesn't list information about the update. If I install an update and something goes wrong, can I go back to previous version/state? Thanks.

It is confusing. Windows Update informed me about an NVIDIA update a few days ago. I downloaded and installed it but really saw no difference. HP Total Care Advisor posted a "Critical Alert" about an NVIDIA driver update a day or two ago. Two attempts to download it have failed. Now I wonder if it's the same driver or if there is some conflict between the Windows version and the one coming via HP.

Well, the third attempt proved to be the charm. The driver update through HP downloaded and installed, but there don't appear to be any real options on the NVIDIA control panel to change settings such as contrast, etc., unless I'm missing something.

Even the 3-D options appear to have no effect, at least in the Preview screen. I can move the slider from Performance to Quality and the Preview doesn't change.

I've just installed the latest driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com with the modded .inf file.

I uninstalled the drivers that were installed, and followed what it said on the website.

I now have all the brightness controls etc.

Yeah, I can now change between preformance and quality, etc.

I've now got all the settings I see on my desktop using the normal nvidia drivers on the notebook.

Went from .65 to .85... Vista dv9000 here.

Had trouble installing them at first. The .inf wouldn't get recognized in Have disk, even with the modded one, but I found a program in the driver directory that ran and installed the drivers itself. Not the setup.exe but another one. Anyway, seems to be more feature-rich. The video overlay controls are now 100% implemented, and the 3D settings seem to have an effect on the performance/quality front. Don't know about FPS, etc. yet. Will try later. Anyone else with thoughts on these .85s going from the .65s?

i still havent permenantly installed my copy of vista premium because of this. i wish there was more of a concrete decision on the video driver.

I used the driver that was on the hp drivers disc that i got with the upgrade package, and i get a quick screen flash everytime vista starts up. plus theres no options.

with these 'beta' drivers, does that flashing thing still happen?

what would you guys say is the best driver thus far?

Oh Jesus Christ... and yes, I can say that because it is Easter...

It looks like these .85s are really good overall actually, they have better 3D performance... but unfortunately, I can't get my "flat panel display scaling" option to "stick". It is currently set to use my display's flat panel scaling attributes, but I want to change it to use Nvidia's, but every time I select another option, and click apply, it just goes back to the option I have currently set - use my display's scaling. It won't change.

    Ideas?

Morrison22: I have never heard of this site. Can others here vouch for it? Do these drivers work on GeForce Go card, or do we needed modded INFs? What kind of system are you running yourself?

I am tempted to try these drivers, or just the beta drivers in general at this point, but I'm afraid of f'ing up my system...

Yes they work on Geforce Go Cards as is. I am running them now and have great performance with them. Use these if any. They are tweaked for vista. See the site I posted above and read their forums for more info on them. Give em a try and let me know how it turned out.

Wow, interesting Morrison. I'll give them a try sometime soon. PS, do you know if the laptop scaling function works with your version? My scaling has become all f'ed up sinced I moved to the .85s.

Wow, @ the tweaksrus drivers. Thanks for the tip off Morrison. Installed the latest Vista Betas, and wow, finally I can play a few games decently, and even the OS desktop runs smoother.

I encourage everyone to give these a try.

Man, the uninstalling and installing process seems too complicated for a slow guy like me. The only driver I can safely install is the one from HP.

Yeah, I also contend that these drivers are still the best I have found.

The only thing I DID notice is that booting up takes a TAD longer, like we're talking 10-20 seconds, and the display initializes (i.e. "flashes") a couple of times after logging in for the first time after bootup - but it's really not a big deal. Morrison, does your display also initialized/flash while logging in?

But gaming and general system performance, including the Vista Aero interfance, is just, really, I mean it seems so much smoother, and appears to use less CPU.

    Hi,

Can you list the steps in installing this driver? I like to try installing it, but I am not a very technical person. Thanks.

All I did was do a clean install of Vista, and installed these drivers. I dont have flashes at startup, and bootup time is -normal-.. the main thing is they work... I know there is a program out there called Driver Cleaner Pro.. and that program wipes all Nvidia drivers from your system so you can do a clean install of video drivers... I used to use that on XP with the tweaksrus driverset, however with vista I have yet to do that.. And I dont even know if its needed with vista.

I downloaded the driver from tweaksrus too. My 3Dmark05 went from 3,250 to 3,450. It's a rather small increase. I was hoping for a 500 points increase. Window index went down from 4.5 to 4.3. That's so weird. I system runs pretty hot now. I wonder if the driver overclocks the GPU.

Oh, it works properly. I just expect too much. My DV9207 is not the fastest laptop to begin with, and I have only 1gb of ram. It only runs hot when I run GPU-intensive stuff.

    Update:

I updated the bios. Windows gaming index is now 4.7, from 4.3. All is good. This driver also provides adjustments for the video output such brightness, contrast, gamma, etc. I am happy with it. Thank you, Morrision22, for the info.

Yep, I tried the Tweaksrus 101.70s on my dv9201/geforce 6150. Works great so far actually. Very functional, and each version feels faster.

Forget about crappy laptopvideo2go drivers and their second-rate website... These Tweaksrus drivers are THE way to go...

I installed the new tweaks-r-us driver.
Everything is smooth and there are loads of adjustments available now. Perhaps I can calibrate it now with my Pantone eye-one display2.
However the fan is audible all the time now. Not wide open or annoying but a noticeable difference as I rarely heard it before.
I don't know what to think of it. I rarely use the battery and when I do its not for long periods and its a 12 cell.

None of my scores changed. Yes I did do an update.

If you don't play games or do video intensive projects, do the Tweaks-R-Us drivers provide any real benefit?

    Thanks,

    Update:
I restarted again and the fan is back to normal. Ran it a while and restarted again and all is normal.
When editing large (47MB) image RAW files in the PhotoShop CS3 Beta the fan will blow a bit and stop after the edit.
But she does idle as before the driver update.
