As everyone knows...the dark umber on the dv6t is a huge fingerprint magnet. I've been looking for some sort of clear cover that I could place over my laptop to keep the fingerprints down and protect the finish in some way. Does this type of thing exist? I was thinking saran wrap-ish (I guess). Or something like what you put over the screen of smartphones to protect them. I love the color and don't want to hide it with some goofy aftermarket graphic skin or something of the sort.
Or I could just wash my hands a lot...ha.
Thanks, all!

My lappy doesn't have a fingerprint magnetic finish, however, any little smudge drives me insane. I just keep a few microfiber cloths in my laptop bag at all times and obsessively run them along the finish which effectively removes any smudges or anything.
That's always an option. I also always have an external keyboard and mouse hooked up, so I barely touch my laptop unless to pack it up/unpack it. That helps quite a bit also. -

I had it for a couple of days and I really didn't find it to be much of an issue, and fingerprints and smudges annoy the crap out of me. Unless my hands were just-ate-fried-chicken greasy, fingerprints weren't showing up on mine.

I've gone to my local Sam's Club and Costco and played with their dv6's and dv7's, one 60xx and the other 61xx, and I saw no fingerprints.
So I want the complainers to put it in perspective for me - have you guys ever seen an iPad 1? What's the black dv6-6000/6100 look like to you compared to the iPad 1? -
its not really that bad at all. they have one at the microcenter i go to. the quality of the material is definitely not a finger print magnet. but if it is such a big deal to you, the microfiber cloth idea isnt a bad idea.

It's not the fingerprints on the umber finish that annoys me, but rather the smudging on the trackpad that I find so irritating. After awhile, I have noticed a permanent "shine" appearing where your finger runs across.

I use a wireless keyboard and mouse plus big screen external monitor. Pretty much have it set up like a desktop. But if I need to use it as a laptop, it'll come through. Best of both world especially since I'm not a gamer.
I understand not wanting to ruin the finish, but other than that reason, why do people complain about fingerprints so much. Who feels the need to show off their computer 24/7? Doubt anyone cares. It wouldn't hurt to wipe your laptop every now and then. -
This so much ,I forgot about this.
Going with Steel Gray isn't going to fix this though so...
