I'm considering getting the HP dv6500t for my new notebook. I would like to be able to use it as a DAW, so it is important to know what firewire chipset this notebook uses. I want to be able to hook up my RME Fireface audio interface and the manufacturer strongly recommends a Texas Instruments chipset.

Is there a dv6500t owner who can check on this for me in the Device Manager?

hmmm do intel have their own firewire chipset like they do with their wireless and network adapters? if so then it will be that. my dv9000t only shows it was the 1394 adapter, doesn't seem to give a model and the driver is a microsoft default one.

you could search the dv6500t drivers in hp.com and see if they have something that mentions it. maybe even in the specs themselves.

Thanks for checking SideSwipe. I tried asking a rep on the HP site, but he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I guess I could try calling them and see if I can get a definitive answer...

yeah asking HP service for technical info is a waste. i still think its an intel chip

EDIT: checked it with ASTRA32 and it is in fact a RICOH 1394 adapter
