    Hey Team,

    I bought my first laptop on craigslist the HP Compaq nw8240 to replace my aging desktop for $550 last week (comes with the Pentium M 770 (2.16ghz) ! :eek: Anyways I had a few questions regarding battery life and heat.

    1) My battery seems to only last about 1 hour and 30 minutes, with it set to max battery (using Notebook Hardware Control). Is this probably due to the age of the battery? :confused: Previous user had it for about a year and a half. If its not due to age, what other options outside of CPU/GPU speed , undervolting (currently at -.1v for each multiplier) and LCD Brightness can I due to increase the longevity.

    I've seen reviews stating one can get 2-4 hrs of life out of their system. Should I look into purchasing a new battery?

    2) My HD temps are great, however I am a little concerned about my CPU. It was hitting 100 C last week, but I quickly took an air duster to that bad boy and dropped it by 25 c! Amazing what dust can do.

    So currently
    Idle = 52 C
    Load/Gaming = 75 C

    Are those acceptable ranges or should I look into opening up the laptop and applying some arctic sliver?

    Thanks for any assistance, so far happy with my laptop (dull LCD) but heck I was able to sell my desktop for 500 and pretty much got it in laptop form for 50! :cool:

    1) Since you bought your notebook used, I would expect battery wear. You can use NHC to tweak down some settings while you are on battery...or invest in getting a fresh battery pack.
    2) Those temps seem fine. If you want to overclock or are just adamant about keeping the computer cool, you could apply AS5. Like you said, keeping the notebook free of dust makes a big difference. An air conditioned room helps as well during Summer.
