This thread is dedicated to users who have done a "fresh" install "not update" of win 7 and now have issues of not being able to access the proprietary drives located on the original OEM Restore disk. I had Win 7 Home and wanted a virgin of Office, so thats what I did.
I wiped the system "erased all partitions" and installed Win 7 Professional virgin on my new DV8T CTO 1100 and all went without a glitch and this thing runs like lightening with the exception of 3 issues.
I"ve spend hours and hours with paid tech support so I wanted to spare anyone else the hassle of the nuggets I've found.
A. Turbo Boost drivers get an error at the tail end of the install saying "this computer does not meet the Minimum requirements for installing this software".... however my turbo boost appears to be working because I installed intels cpu monitor and it shows the speed going up and down based on the load.
FIX... So at this point I think its a glitch in the software install as I appears to be installed.
------------
B. I had an error in device manager under "other devices".. when double clicking on it, it revealed what driver it was looking for... the intel driver chipset.. however the latest on on HPs site "Intel Chipset Driver v2.00 A 10-2009" doesn't work.
FIX...First,
1. Download the file from here: http://pcpitstop.com/libraries/driver/[email protected]&duid=3288&ddate=Sat+Mar+27+02%3A39%3A11+CDT+2010&file=driver&token=06f99d97bf9e98e5fede9a2a6c3f4433
2. And expand the .zip file "Chipset_Intel_XPVSW7_3264_infinst911" and run setup, it appears to install, but it really doesn't as it only expanded the files onto the computer and now you have to install them manually.....
3. Go to device manager, double click the unknown driver and tell it you have your own disk
4. And go to update driver and browse my computer and "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
5. And pick the name you know it is "Intel(R) PM55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B03"...
6. Reboot..... check device manager and the error is gone as the driver installed under "system devices".. it will be called "Intel(R) PM55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B03
You should see two entries.

C. My capacitive Sliders did not work for my Treble/Bass.
Fix.......
1. Make sure you have the latest HP Mediasmart Smartmenu v3.1 C 1-2010 loaded "sp46762.exe" from HPs website for the DV8T.
2. Next you need the driver called "sp45617.exe" Version 2.00A 2009-09-28
This driver is not under the list drivers for the DV8T, but rather the "HP HDX16-1360es Premium Notebook PC" located Here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&product=4000060&os=4063&lang=en
3. It will appear to install but no indication it installed will be noted... it really just expanded the files and you have to install it manually.... heres how:
4. Open Device manager (Right click on computer and to to properties, choose at top left)
5. Now highlight anything in the list and go to "Action"
6. Choose Add legacy hardware and hit next
7. Pick "install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), then hit next
8. Scroll down to "Media Center Extender" and hit next
9. Highlight it and Hit next again and ok to get out.
10. Reboot... your Treble/Bass slider should now work!

D. Also my capacitive Sliders do not work for my Volume
Fix....... Yet to be determined.. when I get the answer I'll post it.
I installed Firefox 64bit and it screams.. my whole system is far quicker than I expected...
