Howdy all. First post. I'm a computer tech and network administrator. I tried to use the search function but getting invalid search string and no results. What I need help with is while upgrading the BIOS of a dv9000 the laptop powered off before it finished. Now the BIOS is toast.
I know there is a procedure to use a USB jump drive and rebuild the BIOS that way, from boot. I tried what I found on the internet but never got a successful reload of BIOS. I need detailed instructions or direction to a thread that might give this info.
    MANY thanks AOT.

I am currently typing this on a DV6 3143US that had a bricked bios. Long story short, it can work.

Make sure you name the USB drive HP_TOOLS. I am very serious here, mine would not work unitl I did.

You need to have the directory -> :\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS with Current and Previous folders in it.

In these folders you will need your bios .bin and .sig files. I have a 144a motherboard I named mine 01448.bin and 01448.sig

How to get these files? Download your bios from HP, unpack it with 7zip or whatever. Use Andy's tool (google it) to generate the files you need. Rename the appropriate files and copy them to your USB drive.

Plug in the drive and boot up..... hopefully.

    This process worked for me.
