    Last question for tonight[ :D]

Is it really needed for a new zt3000? I hear a lot of people talking about it and doing it on their machine. Why? I know the Bios tells about the system, but never heard of flashing until I started reading these forums.

    1. What purpose does it serve?
    2. How do I know if I have the latest BIOS?
    3. How do I flash, if I need to do this?
    4. What should be different when I flash?

    Thank you in advance.

Usually a new BIOS version comes out when there's a firmware (software) fix that is needed. Fixes could range from anything from new battery usage schemes to compatibility issues.

    1. Fixes issues HP has found
    2. Check to see what version is available on HP's site & match it to yours in the Main BIOS screen (may have to go to the second page)
    3. Usually you run the HP software (it now can be run in Windows) and when it's done, power off & restart system.
    4. If you have the reported problems the new BIOS fixes, those problems with be gone.

In most cases, HP says not to update the BIOS unless you're having these listed problems it fixes. If not, don't bother, you may cause problems after the update (corrupt BIOS, compatibility problems when you previously had none, etc...).
