    Hi All,

I was hoping for some insight. I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC Laptop. Recently I have noticed that the power button in the top left corner of the keyboard keeps flickering on and off. I am not sure if this is normal, as I can't recall if it used to always be a solid light without flickering.

I was wondering if this is a sign that my laptop is about to die?

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

What model? And how fast is the LED flickering?

Usually, a blinking power button LED signalizes that the laptop suspended to save power.

Its model is: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC.

It sometimes flickers several times throughout a few minutes but also at times goes out for several minutes. For example, I've been at my computer for 5 minutes now and the light has been off the entire time. All the other lights on the same panel it's on (such as the volume light, wireless light, stop light, fast forward light, rewind light) remain on though.

If it's intermittent and the laptop is functioning normally, I would say that there is a bad connection that is affecting the light directly or the LED itself is failing or has failed.
The small ribbon cable that connects the power button to the MoBo may need re-seating, that would be the place to start.

Know that the power button is separate from the rest of the bezel even though it is in the same area. What is the full model number of your machine eg dv7-xxxx xx ?
