    Hi

I installed 11.10 ATI drivers which didnt work properly, so i used the restore option from windows. But it seems now that I have rebooted the screen flickered (for 1 or 2 seconds) and went black. Very rarely you see for a split second windows booting or my wallpaper, but most reboots gave me a black screen from beginning.
So everything is still working (it boots completely) but i dont have a screen!
I cant access bios (since its already black screen than) so what can i do???

So you never see the HP Bios picture? Thats before the drivers ever get loaded. Try holding f8 during boo and booting into safe mode. You are going to want to go into device manager in safe mode and uninstall the drivers. Then boot back into normal windows, uninstall ATI software, restart, and install stock drivers again.

Please confirm you cant access BIOS. And confirm that the screen turns on at some point when you power the laptop. The driver has nothing to do with seeing the BIOS and have a dead screen.

I can access the BIOS (blindly, because I know i have to press esc and than F10)
That's the strange part BIOS screen works perfect, no flickering. But all other stuff I do is black screen or sometimes a flicker.

F8 gets me in safety mode I guess, but cant see a thing. I can see windows starting for 2 seconds, after that it's black again, this time forever black.
So maybe I was not clear but 99% of time screen is black with very rarely a flicker.
Accessing BIOS blindly works and image is stable than, 100% of the time, until i quit BIOS

    So what I was thinking/
    - driver issue but strange its starts from the very beginning with blackouts.
Shouldnt driver issues be related only when windows starts booting?

    - Screen cable doesnt give good contact, but on the other hand BIOS screen works perfectly, always???

So I still have no idea..

This narrows it down to windows issue. Envy 1st gen or 2nd gen? If Envy 1st gen, try booting on battery power and see if the laptop uses intel gpu. Can you follow the guide on the top of the driver thread to resintall driver? If you cant, then you can try windows repair for a windows 7 disc (which you can easily make).

And it is not a screen cable issue.

I have a 2nd gen. But intel GPU is always been disabled in the envy15 (due to chipset, so hardware locked)
Also have tried booting on battery alone, without battery, etc.

Also changed boot order to USB and reinstall windows from my USBkey and it works (I see flicker where I can see options) but after that 0.1sec image everything goes black again, forever.

Why do you think it's windows related? I mean, why does the flicker start from the moment I press the START button, should not be windows related?

I told you that I can acces BIOS by pressings keys blindly and after esc...F10...right arrow than I get a stable screen from BIOS.
But before all that there are flickers and black screens

As soon as I start the computer.
Yea but I have the 5830M

I went to an HP partner, they are going to send my unit to HP itself.
But now I wonder if I will get warrenty. Bought in the States but live in Europa?
Is there standaard two or just one year warranty in the states?

2 years standard if bought direct from HP. And it seems like hardware issue if starts right on computer power.
