So I'm looking to buy an HDX16t. I have to buy refurbished due to funds, but there is a 90 day warranty so I can send it in if there's anything wrong (fingers crossed). However, there's a $50 difference between two models. The differences are 3GB vs 4GB memory, 250GB vs 320GB HDD, and then an interesting "16.0" WXGA High Definition Ultra-wide Flush Glass Display (1366×768)" vs "16" Diagonal High Definition HP Ultra Brightview Infinity Display (1366×768)". These descriptions come from the same website. Would I be correct in saying that HP never offered anything less than the Ultra Brightview Infinity display on their HDX16t models, and that these two monitors are the same???

The monitors are the same. The HDX only comes with the Infinity glass-overlay display.

There are refurbished ones? I thought it was too new of a model to have refurb ones. All of the screens are infinity, just different resolutions. There are 3 resolutions. I'd get the one for $50 more. That is a bargain for what you get.

If I were buying the HDX16t, it would be only with the 1920x1080 screen, which happens to be the infinity display. 1366x768 is too low for a screen of that size, but that's just my opinion.

Now if the dv7 offered a 1920x1080 screen option in place of the 1600x900, I wouldn't even touch the HDX16...

Where do they sell refurbished HDX models? I've looked on HP's site and found a few notebooks but not HDX. The beauty of the HDX Models are the screens from what I've heard. It seems a shame to go with a lower resolution. Though if funds and/or availability dictate a lower res screen then so be it.

This is my fear as well... I have a DV5, and even though its a smaller screen, there's not much diffenence with the resolution and there's not enough space for me...
Ubid.com... I was skeptical at first, but talked to two people who have purchased refurbished laptops from them (one a HDX18t) and it turned out to be a deal for both. However, I'm wondering if some bid shilling is going on because a laptop with the same specs will be listed right after another's auction just ended...

Seeing how they said it was a ""16.0" WXGA High Definition Ultra-wide Flush Glass Display" makes me wonder because it isn't glass, it's an overlay of plastic. However, to get to the point, the screens of all the HDX models are Infinity screens; all HDX models just come with the Infinity display, just as it's an option for some of their non-HDX models.

I believe the Ultra Brightview Infinity display has a 2nd backlight making it brighter than the standard infinity display...someone correct me if I am off here.

Only on the HDX18, not HDX16.

What do you mean? So does that mean the ULTRA BRIGHT on the hdx16 has no dual lighting? So you're saying that users who get the ultra bright on their hdx16t just got ripped?
