Hey guys.. my notebook has the optiarc 5500S BD Rom and I've only had it for a couple days. I've tried a few blu rays using quickplay but the playback is a little stuttery, especially when skipping from scene to scene. Overall, playback is fairly smooth but my eyes are really picky and I can tell it's not as smooth and fluid as it would be if I were to watch it on my ps3.

I'm wondering if PowerDVD (blu ray version) would be smoother. What are your guys' experiences with blu ray on your notebooks and what software do you use?

What are the specs of your laptop? The issue may just be caused by your system being a bit under powered.

2 GB should be sufficient for Blu-Ray playback although 4 GB would be ideal. What is your graphics card?

I just recieved my HDX16, and although i did i clean vista install, blu rays played absolutely perfectly using the included hp mediasmart dvd software. its not the most feature rich software, but it does a great job.
