So i ordered a dv6000T and got one of the options as "No TV Tuner w/remote control". So i am assuming that my laptop should come with a remote right?

well it came 2day so i open the express bay and its just a filler thing and no remote, so i search the whole box and nothing.

So do i miss understand "No TV Tuner w/remote control" or i don't get a remote :(?

"No (TV Tuner w/ Remote Control)", not "No (TV Tuner) w/ Remote Control"

All or nothing...but you can still order stuff like that from Dell (or better yet...another company for less...look at Hauppauge).

You can purchase the remote separately if you wish, without the TV tuner. I did once, but I bought that after my original order.

That TV tuner /Remote control is particularly TV remote control which is different from HP media remote control. I don't know if TV remote can control quickplayer or not.

I would call up HP and complain a little, who knows they might send you one for free. You could say that when you were on the website HP didnt make it clear and that your friend's HP has the remote etc.

Or just be honest and say where you can order one :p

I think you are confusing the TV tuner remote with the mobile express card remote. The TV tuner one is a quarter the size of your computer and only comes with the analog TV tuner card, as it is used to control function directly related to that accessory. The card sized remote that stores in the express card slot is a $15-18 option that you have to add on to all CTO orders. It comes standard with all of the preconfigured models. You can order it after the fact, link here: http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/pr...ok PC accessories_land/express remote_EL623AA

The large remote comes with the Digital card as well. It does do quick play as well. But quick play is now a waste of time since most of the machine come with MCE now, getting ready for vista.

Either way, you don't need the large remote unless your getting a TV card. And with most TV usb/cards you'll get a remote. If you've got MCE/Vista just make sure the usb / card and remote are MCE ready. You'll be fine!

As for the little remote... well mine has sat in the slot since I got it. I took it out once to turn off another students HP computer while in the library coz they thought it was funny to play music.
