    Hello everyone.

    I have an HDX16 1050ev.

When I got it, I forgot to make recovery discs and now that I got it back from the service (they replaced the HDD cause it was malfunctioning) its empty, as they told me.

I kept a backup of the Recovery partition (D :) with windows back up and by Copy Paste before I took the laptop at the service. Now I copied them all back at the new partition that I made.

When I make a new partition in the new HDD, 10GB in size, and try the Recovery Option (Esc and then F11) it says no bootable device.

Is there a way to make the notebook see that the recovery partition is actually in place?

    Thanks.

You CANNOT access the recovery partition in the traditional hotkey because you do not have the original bootloader installed.

What you can try is to make the recovery partition the active bootable one, then boot up the lappy, it should then run recovery for you.

To do this, you'll have to boot to something else, like UBCD, or a boot disk containing a partition manager app.

I would add tht someone with the HDX16 1050ev should post here with the total size of their recovery partition, so that you can ensure your created one is the same size (just in case recovery looks at remaining disk space on the drive to a table, something that ticks me off about repairing Acer HD's ... yuck).

You would use a partition manager to select your recovery partition and make it bootable. You need to have any of the most used ones, just perform a search online. I use sevaral that come with the ultimate boot CD.

If you have a partition manager app on your current system that you added the drive to, you should be able to make it active and bootable

(I want to avoid having your current computers drive being made unbootable in the process, which is why I recommend using a bootable disk with the app on it to boot up your laptop with the drive installed there....)

    Thanks for the info!

But after all, all that was needed, was mark the Partition as Active witht he Windows Storage Manager :p

2nd problem is that it gives me an error 1002 because it needs tattooing witht he DMI Utility. Trying to find it, but no luck so far...
