I forgot to make the recovery disks when the system cam in. I have partitioned the HD since then but have kept the partition intact. Could I create the disks now even though I have installed quite a few programs?

I missed a small point above. I would like to create disks that give me the option to restore the system exactly like I got it from HP even though I have installed quite a few programs. Is that possible now?

it doesnt matter at all if u have installed a few programs or whatever. the recovery disks are created from your recovery partition in your comp, which is never affected unless u yourself do so by tempering with the files in the recovery partition.

The only way you wouldn't be able to create recovery disks can happen a few ways:

    1. You delete the recovery partition (which you say you didn't do)

    2. You already burned 1 set of Recovery Disks (which you didn't do)

    3. You did a fresh install of the OS, not a recovery using the recovery partition or recovery disks.

If it was option 3, unless HP has a program you can install to create them, you have to reinstall using the recovery partition and then follow cotton_mouths first post, which is Start->Recovery Manager->Recovery Disk Creation.

Also, if you did delete the recovery partition, or you create the disks and lose them, you can always order them from HP.
