I just received my HP DV1000 series today, and ordered a Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM hard drive for it. I want to start from scratch and install XP Professional instead of XP Home. My question is what do I need to do to make sure Quickplay is installed correctly. I read the manual and it isn't all that detailed.

When I am installing XP Pro do I need to create a second partition for Quickplay to be installed, what status does the second partition need to be set to extended, primary?

I have no problem with the XP setup, just want to make sure i don't lose Quickplay. Help is appreciated.

    Bradm20,

I have the same problem!I have tried every combination with extended, primary and logical partition and still nothing!Allways the same :Installatin stoped due to incorrect system ID or insufficient HD space!
My system id must be good becaude I am using XP provided with notebook and I created 305mb partition on HD!

If you have found the sollution please e-mail me!

    Finally,
I solve problem! You must create partition 204mb(primary unformated), but most important is that partition must be FIRST in the row!If you have allready instaled Windows use program Partition Magic 8.0 to move your Windows partition and free 204mb from left to right!
