Free Skinnit for some HP/Compaq models

Man I wish I had PS Skills . So much I would I do if i had it lol. Now u got me wondering about the one I ordered for my bro's 9500. Lemmie know if the next one u get has the same problems.

Man this deal just keeps getting better..Just browsed the Skin it site and saw that they have skins for consoles as well. Def gettin one for the 360

yeah you can only get skins for hp computers

 

mine also went though gettin a custom skin =D

 

you can learn ps. just takes some practice. takes a lot of time to do anything too extensive to a photo though. PLENTY of sites to show you tips and tricks

 

Just getting ready to customize my laptop skin and was wondering what dpi you created your custom skins at? Also, what size did you make the image? Do I need to design around a logo (did the skin arrive with a cutout)?

My DV9500T is arriving at the end of the week so wanted to get a jump on the skin. Thanks!

 

the higher the resolution the better. the little application you use on the site to resize and place your image scales it automatically. if that's a little confusing, goto the site and try a custom skin to see what i mean

I think they sent me the wrong skin because it is not big enough to cover the entire lid. Anybody else experience this with a dv9500t?

Making a skin for the dv2500t using a desktop background sized 2560 x 1600, I hope that's alright for printing. Would anyone happen to have (or possibly make) the HP logo in white font over a black background? I found one in black font over a white background, tried to swap the colors in Paint, and it looks horrible haha.

 

These skins are just crap.

I ordered 2 a couple of months ago.

The fit was extremely poor. At the corners you have to wrinkle to get it to bend around. It doesn't fit to the edge and is way off at the hinges.

When it arrived it was scratched already for having been shipped in a tube with no protection.

Sent a polite email to them regarding my concerns and never heard back.

In contrast, I had a skin from another company for my old Q and the attention to detail was spectacular.

I wouldn't pay for these ever again.

 

Well I sent them a polite email this morning and they have already responded so I don't know what you said but they did reply to me within 6 hours to my email. *shrug* Really I was just informing them of the size problem and I wanted them to be aware of it so any future customer that had the dv9500t would be happy with their order and hopefully refer them more business. I didn't ask for a replacement or anything (after all it was free) but we'll see what they do. The response I got was basically saying they would forward it on to the right person and that was about it (the email I sent was to the hpskins@skinit addy).

The fit isn't even close, its 1/2 an inch gap all the way around so it doesn't even begin to get to the corner of the laptop's front lid or back hinge. If I were to apply it there would be a black frame around the entire lid. I double checked my order before I sent them an email to be sure I did not select the wrong class of laptop and the order was correct. again...*shrug*...I dunno what to say, maybe their printer screwed up the re-size of the image and it printed on the wrong stock?

I'll just have to wait and see what they do. If nothing else it looks cool, now I just need to find something cool to stick it on

Heres my skin made from the HP dragon (HDX) wallpaper:

 

the contrast with the dv9500's to the other pics in this forum is that it doesn't cover the lid completely on ours. that cool design with the evil face wraps around the edges (dv6500?) but the 9500's must have problems.
i posted the dragon pic, it just looks like a sticker instead of a cover to me. the little application on the webpage to figure out the placement of your custom image must be messed up also because it shipped with the border on the sides of mine. there's no way i accidentally did that, either. i have an ocd thing with placement like that

 

still waiting for mine to come to Canada which shipped on December 12, 2007. Probably just stuck at the border. As long as i get it before Christmas I am happy

 

i dont get iti.do people think that the skins are supposd to fit the whole of the lcd back?i thought they were supposed to fit like v3locitys.

 

They are all flippin different. On my 6500 there were notches for the hinges and the corner went further around and had to be wrinkled at the corners to fit properly.

I WISH it fit like that pic.

There wasn't a skinit logo on it either.
I would be interested in more pics of other models.

 

Yea the Joker skin I got is for my 6500. I meant to ask if all 9500 were having this problem, I guess so.

 

You don't know how ****ty it fits until you put it on.
By that time it is too late.
They say you can remove and move it....good luck with that on a 15.4"+ notebook

Been a lil over a week and I still havent gotten mine I do not like to wait for anything lol.

 

if anyone can find the HP Blackbird002 frame design and do a skinit, itd be nice because personally, the radiance design sucks.

Ordered on 12/15 received on 12/21, got one of the pre-set designs, not pixelated and fits just fine on a V6500Z. No problems with the corners! Just about twice as bad as putting a screen protector on my Palm T3; got about 99% of the bubbles out. Can't beat it for free!

haha its xmas eve and the postman brought me my skins.i didnt think they would come since i never got a confirmed email from them.

this image was a high res image in which i should have edited it in a diff color.

i notice that the colors are deeper,like the skull one.on the site the skull one isnt that dark,but the skin is.hope all goes well when stickn on.

UPDATE:

well the skin was to big so i decided to cut it like v3locities,but then i didnt want to cover up the hp logo lol. so i just cut around the skull.damn that skin paper is thick even when cutn with a scalpel.i could have cut abit better but owell.

I got the jemery design from HP/MTV list. The print is good.

Just have a question for those who have tried it. Is it easy to remove and will it leave a mark?

Thanks a lot for the asia shipping info liquidcoolz. I did order mine too today. Will see when I get it. Ordered a pre-defined Indian Flag skin. But I too have the doubt that you have. Is it easy to remove this stuff?

Also does anybody have any idea how long this could last? Would take me about 2 weeks or so to get the skin ordered today so that I can order more after confirming that it is indeed free. Will it last till then?

 

It is slightly hard to remove (especially on the larger laptops) but it comes of completely and leaves nothing behind on the laptop lid

yeah, by the time i got my skin off my dv9500t the skin was completely beyond reuse (that adhesive is extremely sticky but comes off clean - its Magic!!! )

 

I still have sometime before I get my Lappie. But I am a bit curious as to what exactly are these skins made of? Also do they cover the entire Laptop? Plus what is the controversy about the skin fitting the corners all about? Plus can they constantly be changed from one to another keeping in mind that I would like to use it again? Quite a lot of questions I presume, lol. A reply would really be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

im in the uk and got mine in a week.it surprised me.

Besides all of you are talking of date of shipping. How do you track it or are they sending emails? I read in this thread that there email sending system is currently down because of the high volume of requests.

 

Well, I opted for no shipping number. I did get a shipping, well order number for one of the packages.

I want to trace anything, if I am not doing it the right way.


But they did give my cousin a shipping number, and recieved an email from them.
