You may want to explore undervolting the CPU.

Judging from the system listed in your sig, you would benefit from a decent undervolting. Less heat, run quieter, and increased battery life.

See the following thread over on the sister site to this one:

I've done it on my TX2500z running Vista x64 and couldn't be happier.

Many thanks ... I downloaded this and it seems pretty good thus far. Many thanks. I was hoping for a little bit more though....

Idea wise I had an example like Lenovo's Power Manager software....

Hmm ... okay 2.0 ... I will look into this as an option and check out the thread.

Many thanks to the replies so far ... any other replies?

If you go the undervolting route, And I recommend it highly as it doesn't decrease performance at all, be sure to use the program that turns the undervolting software into a service. That is, when you get things the voltages the way you like it.

On my 8 cell batt, I get a little over 4 hours of use with screen brightness @ 60%, wifi on. Where as at that same setting before undervolting, I would push 3:30 to 3:45.

    Sounds good to me! :)

With regards to this program however, (it was mentioned in the thread I believe), is this the ".exe to service" trialware program out there when you google it? Or is there another program you are thinking of when those words are entered into the google prompt?

That's the one. Run it once, set it up, then uninstall it. Service remains on your system.

Doh! Of course! :D I shoulda thought of that.

Okay 2.0 ... many thanks to you once again.

Now all I gotta do is figure out the undervolting voltage values for my little creature. ;) I will keep on carrying on about all that in the sister site dedicated to tablet pc's.
