Hey all so I decided to do a fresh install of windows on my new envy 15. Here are a few notes I thought you guys might find useful.

    - I could not get Ati drivers installed at all. After doing a windows update 6750 drivers were installed automatically. Not sure how to get the 7690 drivers back on here.

    - I can not find the tone control for the new envys. I had to install an older version to get the beats control panel on here but it is missing a bar in the equalizer section. If you guys know where I can get the most up to date tone control let me know!

    - I prefer the fixed switchable graphics over the dynamical because I seem to know exactly which card im using and don't seem to have choppy gameplay with certain games anymore.

    - HP needs to do a better job providing all drivers (envy 15 graphics driver is missing on the hp support site)

    - I can't get the beats button to work in opening up the beats control panel and I have installed the quick launch buttons

    - Before the fresh install I noticed two red dots glowing a couple inches from the bottom of the left side of the screen. Now I don't see them at all. What am I missing?

    - Are there any webcam drivers??

    - Overall I'd say I'm satisfied minus the problems/annoyances I mentioned above

This was just posted in the past 24 hours...should cover you on any and all drivers you could possibly want.

Before nuking your machine...did you backup your SWSETUP directory? Contains all programs and drivers for the machine as well. Webcam drivers are handled on my 2nd Gen Envy 17 by Cyberlink YouCam. There has to be a product download page for your product...go here and input your model number

Well I wanted to back it up but before I got the chance I ran into a couple problems with windows and wasn't able to get in. Now I was already planning on doing a fresh install so I didn't get the chance to backup swsetup. I figured everything would be online anyways so I'd have no problem finding it. The ati drivers for the envy 15 are not on the site. At thIs point they are missing

Ask someone in the owner's thread to upload the driver to mediafire for you.

Why not give HP Concierge a call and ask if they can email you a link to download the AMD / Intel drivers. The switchable graphics drivers are combined...so you have no worries about that. Here is the concierge number:

    They are open 24/7

Annoying thing is I uninstalled the 6750 drivers to reinstall the 7690 drivers but they won't install. Windows installs the standard VGA adapter drivers for the 7690. I can not find any workaround and the ati site drivers are not updated for the 7690. I'm stuck with the standard VGA drivers now and can't even install the 6750 drivers again

I also did a clean install and forgot to backup the swsetup folder. However, I was able to track down 99% of the drivers needed. Can someone please upload the entire swsetup folder?

For the two glowing lights. Those are the proximity sensors for turning on the keyboard lights automatically. Here is the program for that http://ge.tt/9BNVRaB?c

You can't download drivers from AMD. The drivers for switchable graphics are re-written by HP to work with your card. Now...with that said...You can use AMD drivers to update your AMD graphics drivers only. NEVER uninstall the HP drivers...just install AMD's over them and you maintain switchable graphics. I have the 2nd Gen Envy running AMD 12.1 preview and Intel 8,820 drivers. Switchable graphics works and all is good, Only loss is that the brightness key no longer works
