You need to get a hold of a Vista install disc.

Yes there is a way if your notebook is preconfigured for an upgrade. You will have the contents of the upgrade disk stored in your hard drive. Mine has this. But I didn't try a clean install yet.

If you have it copied on your drive you will need to somehow make a bootable disc. vLite might be able to do that for you. http://www.vlite.net/ Please let us know if that works

Search for wau > if u can't find it > do a search for setup.exe. There will be too many setup.exe's in your notebook, but the one with the hard drive/vista logo is the right file.

Wait hp's come with upgrade dvd right?

Below is the way to know if ur notebook is preconfigured for upgrade.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/windowsanytimeupgrade/faq.mspx

Open the Windows Anytime Upgrade program: Click Start, type "upgrade" in the search field, and then click Windows Anytime Upgrade. Click the edition of Windows Vista that you plan to upgrade to.

Under the heading "Then, Upgrade Windows Vista," the text will indicate whether the computer has been configured for the upgrade by the manufacturer. If the text states that you need a Windows Anytime Upgrade disc to complete the purchase process, your computer manufacturer has not pre-configured all editions of Windows Vista on the hard drive.
