I bought a dv9000z laptop when they first arrived and enjoyed it quite a bit. The one problem I have, and it seems most everyone else as well, it that it is very very warm. Running full load (thank you SETI) I have hit up over 90 C.
My question goes out to anyone who has actually torn apart one of these before. How exactly is the processor cooled? Is a thermal pad used or can I use some Arctic Silver to help with heat dissipation? Also is the fan replaceable as in can I install a better one?
I tried to use the HP manual to take the computer apart but got rather scared after removing 20-30 screws and then needing to remove actual components.
If anyone has tried this before any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Undervolting... yes I have done that already. I have used RM Clock and NHC (Damn you NHC for not supporting AMD chips). Even with decent undervolting and keeping the machine locked in the lowest p state (800 M Hz) I still see, and feel, temps in the upper 60s lower 70s.
Also, I cannot find the exact core voltages for the Turion X2 processors. The AMD technical documents don't show the line at all. I have been using the voltages from the original Turion line and tweaking from there.
As for the great and glorious cooling guide, yes I have used compressed air, no my fan is not dirty or full of crap. Cooling pad? I really don't want to haul around one more piece of equipment. If I recall correctly the rest of it actually required opening up the notebook which is what my post was originally about.
Thanks for the reply -
The Spire pacific Breeze might be abit small...but should still help.

It was on sale a while back for under 30 I think and it would be a bit more sturdy.
