So I can futureshop b/c I wanted to visually inspect the unit to see if it met my needs (I was going to buy somewhere else, though).
Me: Hi, I was wondering if you had the Envy 14 Beats Edition in stock?
Rep: Let me check.
Rep: Yeah we do (gets excited) IT'S GOT HDMI
Me: Don't all laptops have HDMI these days?
Rep: Yeah!!! But this can hook into your TV!!!
Me: I know.
Rep: You can connect USB headphones too.
Me: Yup.
Rep: It's good. You can carry it around with you if you go on a trip.
(he went on for a good 5 minutes on features that ALL laptops have)
....
The entire phone call made me LOL. He was trying to hard so sell it to me over the phone, even though he brought up features that 99% of laptops out had. Maybe he can fool an 80 year old man who's computer illiterate ...lol
I'm gonna go check it out, though, b/c it's in my top 3 list, but man, where do they find these people? LOL![]()

I recently had one argue with me over a Fully rugged laptop ( CF-30 ) being a BIT more durable that the $349 Gateway on the shelf. told him to grab it and throw it into the parking lot running with a good arc and see what happens.... -
lol that's great - the sad part is that there are probably people who would be convinced by those broad statements. i wonder how much retail electronic store sales would drop if they weren't allowed to mislead people
-
Since the sales reps are either on a commission or on a bonus system based on sales, they starve if they don't get a sale
The faster they close a sale on a item the quicker they are on their way to another customer and hopefully for them another sale
When I go into those stores I have already educated myself on what they sell
I check their website and phone the local store for their price as often it can be even lower the the website price , and walk in and buy it without dealing with the sales pitch

Hah, hah! That reminds me of the mid to late 1990s when FS started their expansion. At the FS near where I lived the sales personnel wore suits that seemed to be a bit on the big side. I remember that a friend called them, "droids in Value Village suits." At that time the store was loaded with them, and you couldn't walk two steps without someone wanting to sell you whatever you happened to be looking at.

droids in V.V suits ... I like that. -
I hate it when they read the advertising jargon, especially when it comes to graphics cards. Even the lowliest IGP ends up having " stunning visual clarity and superior 3D gaming performance".
Okay.

You all must not understand how exciting HDMI is. It makes me giddy.
