I'm interested in getting the G42T with Core i3, ATI, Blu-Ray, and 6GB memory.

I own only DELL machines and never had much of any issues with them or the company. But that was years ago.

Can someone please let me know the quality of this notebook? How's the durability? How's the HEAT? (Important as I will be using this from bed a lot).

Also, how's HP from a customer support level? I've heard so many horrible things about them.

The reason I'm thinking about G42T is because I can get everything I want for my budget - under $800.

    Thanks!!! Happy New Year.

These PCs are great for the price, and the quality of the hardware is good too, BUT...

"HP's Total Care" is horrible!!!!! Its like buying a PC with no support. They cannot solve issues other than the ones that they have a script for. So when I called for a highly technical issue with their recovery software they were clueless and I had to figure it out myself.

Also, no PC is meant to be placed on the bed, the sheets will cause any notebook to suffocate and die from heat, also, any PC takes dust in, therefore to prevent damage to components, use compressed air to clean heat sinks regularly.

Great, I'll snoop around for some coupons for it. I've looked at nearly every option and I really wanted to get something that had the Intel 330UM as to reduce the heat signature. The ASUS UL80JT seemed like a good idea, but I wouldn't get all the features as the HP and then I'd be spending more.

Don't worry I won't be placing it on the bed sheets, I have a lap desk that has a flat plastic surface, I just don't want it to be overly hot on my palms.

I already purchased it from Costco with the 380m ;) So that way I get Costco's tech support with is US based and a 2 yr warranty. I'll do a photo unboxing once it arrives. Should be here early next week.

    Hey guys,

I am looking to get a g42t for my wife.

One question, if i take the ATI 6370, does it have switchable graphics included in the i3? (the ENVY 14 has this option but it's more expensive/powerful)
