Anyone familiar with this notebook (was the black friday Bestbuy 350 dollar laptop)? I was wondering if a WSXGA screen was available for less than an arm and a leg that would fit this notebook, 1280x800 stinks. Obviously its not a real high end unit but as much as anything I like to tinker. I've already thrown a 320gb scorpio black and 4 gb of ram in it. It's quite a bit quicker than the DV6609WM it replaces, though the DV was asthetically and options wise a much nicer notebook, it was stuff I really didn't need and I can sell it for way more than this one cost.

I just did a quick search of a few sites that deal in replacement LCD displays. It's looking like they're all $300 or more at that resolution!

It looks like you'd be better off just selling the G50-104NR and ordering a new dv5t with the WSXGA+ display. If you only select the display upgrade and the 4GB RAM upgrade, it's priced at a low $619.99.

Wish I could be more help!

Ouch yeah I only paid 350 for the laptop itself so that's definately not worth it. You don't happen to know if that Samsung screen is good or bad do you? It doesn't look as good as my DV6609wm which also has the brightview 15.4" screen, obviously there's no guarantee they really use the same panels, but I just wondered if it was the panel or if the x4500m drivers weren't as good as the nvidias on the dv.
