Hi, hope someone can help. My gf has the above laptop which is 4 weeks old. She managed to crack the screen and I ordered a replacement. Installed it no problem but when it boots to desktop the screen will not light up to the total width of screen. There's a 1 inch black border down the right hand side. If I try to alter res settings it wont allow me to go higher than 1200 something yet the screen supplier claims it is a 1300 something as per OEM. I've refitted cracked screen and sure enough it lights up to whole width albeit that it's cracked and unable to see the desktop.

The supplier is maintaining the screen is a correct alternative part and that the laptop may have inverter issues. Seems unreasonable to me as the cracked still lights up ok. Anyone with similar experience help please?

    Many thanks

    Joey

What are the part numbers for the old and new display?
Sounds strange, 1366x768 is the default resolution and perhaps the new display thinks it does 1280x800 instead?

You could answer him you haven't yet found the inverter, that could be the problem (LED screens are usually powered directly from the motherboard via LCD cable). :p

    Hi
Many thanks for the reply. I've ordered another one now from a different seller that assures me it's an OEM part with same part number ad the cracked one. I'll fit as soon as delivered and take it from there if the problem persists. The seller did feel that the other screen may have been incorrect res even though the supplier is still maintaining the screen tested ok.

Bit worrying really that there maybe another issue. The laptop wasn't dropped just took a knock to screen that cracked it.
