So that is what is going on with the 2.5 year old laptop. According to what I read online, it is flashing once every 4 seconds or so and that means bad cpu. I tried re-seating the ram. I am not willing to start throwing parts at this POS unless I am sure it will fix it. So am I just as well to go ahead now and get a new laptop or has anybody found an easier fix? From what I also read the hp error sequence codes are not necessarily accurate..

Hello. I had the same problem and my pc model is G62-435DX with AMD cpu and ATi graphics. About 2-3 years old when I bought it brand new. Anyways, I replaced the cpu per HP and it did not work. I did more research and found an answer from a genius person. "LEAVE THE PC RUNNING UNTIL IT GETS HOT. UP TO THE POINT WHERE THE FAN KICKS IN" then turn it off. That's what I did and it came back to life.

The problem was the GPU. When this laptop gets so hot, the GPU's soldering connection gets messed up (cold solder). Reheating the solder is the only solution and since I don't have that tool, using the laptops heat is the only way and thankfully enough, IT DID WORK. Now, off I go to buy a laptop cooling fan so it will not reach the solder's melting temperature.

Oh and yeah, called HP and they will charge me $280 to fix the problem. What a joke.
